Advanced Digital Design is a one-semester course open to juniors and seniors. This course is an introduction to Autodesk Maya, which students use to create animations and still renderings. Maya is used to model and render structures, objects, and characters on a digital platform. This program is professional-level software used by industry experts across companies and fields, including architects, engineers, game designers, interior designers, urban planners, film and video personnel, illustrators, and many others. The program can be used to produce perspective drawings, elevations, plans, computer and mechanical engineering plans, and stage set designs, as well as anything that can be conceptualized in three-dimensional space. Projects are compiled into a digital portfolio for a grade, and should be considered for potential use in college admissions processes. This course fulfills the graduation requirement for computer science. Youtube Video - AnimationsSince the work done in this class is primarily animations - it's best viewed as moving images! Historic ArchitectureStudents studied historic architecture in a region and time period of their choosing, doing heavy research assignments and drawing studies, before finally 3D modeling and animating their own sequence based on their research on this region. Robot Design - Still Renderings from Animated SequencesFor the last project of the semester, students created their own original robot characters. They sketched their concepts, modified them, 3D modeled, rigged, and animated them.
