This year, the SFP Art Department and students had the opportunity to do something truly incredible - an art experience at Walt Disney World. The trip was scouted and planned over the course of year with Custom Tours, Inc., and completely tailored to the needs and desires of this group. The tour included trips to all four major theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom), as well as magical extras in a VIP dinner showing of "Fantasmic!" at Hollywood Studios and a breakfast with classic English characters at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian, Disney World's flagship resort. However, the most valuable experience of all was the ability to take part in four extensive art workshops on Disney property, taught by working artists for the Walt Disney Company, and the opportunity to take part in the annual Festival of the Arts at Epcot Center. The SFP teachers also supplied the students with their own kit of supplies, courtesy of Blick Arts, and taught various lessons for the students to create work during their time in Florida. This trip was truly the highlight of the year for all who attended, and hopefully the start of a great tradition!
